Swing/Putting Coaches
John Sosa has been my full swing coach since I was twelve years old. I call Coach Sosa a genius. My dad calls Coach a “one man D1 golf factory.” Coach Sosa was the #3 high school recruit in the class of 1987, behind Phil Mickelson and Jim Furyk. He played for the University of Texas, where he was All Southwest Conference all four years, and then played on a variety of tours before turning his attention to high performing junior golfers.
Before I met Coach Sosa, I was coached by Aaron Bergman & Nick Trice. I sometimes also go to Jake Ezell at Barton Creek Golf Academy for additional putting and short game lessons.
Mental Coach
Some people don’t like to talk about their mental games, but I do! I work with Dr. Erik Gnagy. Like Coach Sosa, he’s also a genius.
Dr. Gnagy, or ‘Doc G,’ graduated with a PhD in psychology at the University of Texas, and is also a PGA Professional. He is a professor at UT specializing in behavior and spots performance and is one of the world’s leading experts in decision making at it pertains to golf.
I also owe a shout out to my friend Marisa Messana. Marisa played for Clemson before playing on the LPGA Epson Tour, and is now a professional golfer and motivational speaker. She helps me see things from a different perspective.
High School Coach
I attend Westlake High School, where I am coached by Megan Cisneroz, the best high school golf coach in Texas!
Megan Cisneroz was named Head Coach of the Westlake High School Girls Golf program after serving three years as an Assistant Coach.
Coach Cisneroz earned a degree in kinesiology from Angelo State University, and was part of the first women’s golf program at ASU.
Physical Coaches
I go to Ben at Urban Golf Performance (UGP). UGP is a comprehensive player development facility offering coaching, golf-specific fitness, full body recovery, fittings, and mental game coaching. I go to UGP for golf-specific fitness. Some of my teammates at Westlake go to UGP for fitness and recovery.
I also do weight room twice a week with my high school team, run stadium stairs and run track on my own or with friends, and play pickleball with my dad.
Fitters
Bobby Dean at Barton Creek Fitting Studio fits me for everything that goes in the air. Bobby is one of the best fitters anywhere, and his brand-agnostic fitting studio fits everyone from famous pros as well as most of the top amateurs and junior golfers in Central Texas.
Blair Phillip in Dallas helps me with putter fittings.
Parents
My parents are Jeff and Susie Turk. They don’t know much about golf, but my dad was a collegiate sailor and played a variety of varsity high school sports. My dad graduated from Northwestern University (KSM ’05) and Southern Methodist University (BBA ’97). My mom graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Notre Dame (BS and BA, ’98). I am eternally grateful for their support.
Friends
I get a lot of my joy and love of golf from playing with friends.
Some of my frequent playing partners include Isabel Emanuels (Westlake HS ’26, Georgia, ’30), Ava Osbourne (Westlake HS ’27, UNC ’31), Ava Frazier (Vandergrift HS ’29), and Rylie Bowman (Vandergrift HS ’30)!
