My Team(s)!
I love playing golf the most when I play on a team.
My first golf competition was also my first team experience. I played with my friend Ryan Latsha in a scramble at Butler Pitch and Putt when we were about eight years old. We came in third, and I wore my little bronze medal to third grade every day for two weeks!
My second team experience came years later, when I had the opportunity to represent the South Texas PGA against the (evil!) North Texans at the Texas Junior Cup, an intense, Ryder Cup Style Tournament for 10-12 year olds. I won my final match 3 and 1, helping my team win the Cup for South Texas!
My third team experience came two years later, when I was one of two girls who represented Texas at the National Car Rental PGA Junior League National Championship, which was broadcast live on ESPN.
My fourth, and deepest team experience is playing for the Varsity 1 team at Westlake High School. Every day at Westlake is filled with laughter and smiles, but we also work hard on and off the course. I have learned from our fantastic coach, Coach Cisneros, and two other players who have already committed to elite D1 women’s college golf programs. It’s an honor to represent Westlake every day.
In the future, I have my eye on additional tournaments where I can play as a member of a team. I just have to keep grinding until it happens!
